昨日まで猛烈に仕事をして、木曜日の昼前から旅に出た。F1日本グランプリを鈴鹿サーキットで見るために、中部国際空港のホテルまでやってきた。選んだのはエアポートビューの部屋だから、窓から滑走路が見える。これが今回の旅の楽しみの一つだった。早速、部屋から空港を見渡すと、そこにはマックス・フェルスタッペンの自家用機が駐機されているのが見えた。これはいい旅になりそうだ。
ブログの更新が遅れてしまった。以下、昨日のこと。
そう、昨日の水曜日はこの旅行のために猛烈に仕事を片付けたのだ。自分でも信じられないようなパフォーマンスが発揮された。いつもこれくらいのことはできるはずなのだ。やればできる。
留守中のネコの世話をしてくれるH君のためにシッティング・マニュアルを作って、物資に不足がないか念入りに確認して、必要なものは買ってきた。旅の荷造りも終えた。H君と最後の事前連絡を交わして準備は完了。
明日の木曜日は午前中に出発して、5時間ほどかけて中部国際空港まで向かう。そこが週末のF1観戦の拠点。金曜日は空港から高速船を使って津に渡り、そこから鉄道で鈴鹿サーキットに向かう。この海上ルートも楽しみにしている。土日は駐車場を確保してあるからクルマで向かう。月曜日にチェックアウトして、火曜日からはまた猛烈に働く。
Yesterday, after working furiously up until the last minute, I set out on my trip late Thursday morning. I’ve come to a hotel near Chubu Centrair International Airport to watch the F1 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit. I booked a room with an airport view, so I can see the runways right from my window. This was one of the things I had been especially looking forward to on this trip. As soon as I looked out over the airport, I spotted Max Verstappen’s private jet parked on the tarmac.
It feels like this trip is off to a very good start.
Now, a quick update on yesterday:
As I said, I worked with incredible focus to clear my schedule for this trip. I managed a level of performance I could hardly believe I was capable of. Honestly, I should be able to operate at this level all the time. It’s just a matter of will.
I also prepared a detailed sitting manual for my friend H, who will be taking care of my cat while I’m away. I double-checked that all the supplies were stocked and picked up anything missing. Packing done, last-minute communication with H done—everything is ready.
Tomorrow, Thursday, I’ll leave in the morning and drive about five hours to Chubu Centrair Airport. This will be my base for the F1 weekend.
On Friday, I’ll take a high-speed ferry across the bay to Tsu, then switch to a train to reach Suzuka Circuit. I’m also really looking forward to this sea route.
For Saturday and Sunday, I have a parking spot secured, so I’ll drive to the circuit.
I’ll check out of the hotel on Monday—and come Tuesday, I’ll be back to working at full throttle.
