今日から3日間はWEC2025第7戦の撮影のために富士スピードウェイに籠る。籠る、というのは比喩ではなく、実際にコースサイドにテントを張ってキャンプをする。WECとはル・マン24時間レースで有名な、耐久レースの世界選手権である。ここ富士では、6時間の決勝レースが日曜日に行われる。
耐久レースにこうしてキャンプで向き合うというのは趣がある。そのうちにル・マンを取材できるようになりたいものだ。
今日も走れず。だが、機材を担いで11キロ歩いたからトレーニングの埋め合わせとしては充分なものになった。気分がよい。
For the next three days, I’ll be holed up at Fuji Speedway to photograph the WEC 2025 Fuji round. This “holed up” isn’t just a figure of speech—I’m actually camping trackside in a tent.
WEC stands for the World Endurance Championship, known especially for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Here at Fuji, the main event is a six-hour endurance race held this Sunday.
There’s something special about experiencing an endurance race this way—camping alongside the action.
Someday, I hope to be able to cover the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well.
No running again today, but I carried my gear and walked 11 kilometers—more than enough to count as training. I feel good.
