祝日の火曜日、仕事は渋谷。電車は空いていたが、街はゴールデン・ウィークの賑わいである。ぼくにとっては連休にも長期休暇にもならないが、どこか近場の低山にでも日帰りで行ければと、つよく希求している。人気の山ではなくて、地味で、それゆえ静かな山がいいだろう。山を登るための荷造りや靴のことをつい夢想しながら仕事をしていた。
It was a holiday Tuesday, and I had work in Shibuya.
The trains were empty, but the streets were full of Golden Week crowds.
For me, there’s no extended break, but I find myself longing to take a quick day trip to a nearby low mountain—
not a well-known peak packed with hikers, but a quiet, unassuming one.
As I worked, I couldn’t help daydreaming about packing for a hike: boots, gear, the feel of the trail.
