マラソンの前日は、日を浴びながら軽く運動でもしておけばよいだろう、ということで神泉から初台まで7キロほどの散歩をした。途中、渋谷の西武で開催されているフジコ・ヘミングさんの一周忌の展覧会に立ち寄った。会場にはフジコさんが愛用したヤマハとベヒシュタインのアップライト・ピアノが置かれてあって、ヤマハのほうは来場者が自由に弾くことができた。その1966年製（だったと思う）のヤマハの、せめてキーの感触だけでも知りたいとは思ったが、とうとう触れる勇気は出なかった。これが皆さんけっこう弾いていかれるから恐れ入った。
For the day before the marathon, I decided on a walk in the sunlight and covered about 7 kilometers, from Shinsen to Hatsudai.
Along the way, I stopped by an exhibition at Seibu in Shibuya, held in memory of Fujiko Hemming on the first anniversary of her passing.
Inside the venue were two upright pianos she had used: a Yamaha and a Bechstein. Visitors were welcome to play the Yamaha.
It was a 1966 model, if I recall correctly. I wanted, at the very least, to feel the touch of its keys—but in the end, I couldn’t summon the courage.
Quite a few people just sat down and played. I watched in quiet awe.
